The U.S. has many more regulations in banking and the stock market. Social Security, welfare assistance, veterans programs have all been put in place which would offset some of the ills of the depression. The Federal Reserve System fools with the prime interest rate to jumpstart the economy. There are more surplus products from farms which can be distributed quicker. My take is the country would handle a depression quite well and none would be as severe as the 1930's

Absolutely not! China owns America's debts. The USD is worthless. It is worth less than the Canadian dollar and the Euro. There is no reason to believe that when America is run on a fiat dollar , that We will be able to handle the Economy any better than we did in the 30's. It will be much worse!

No way... We don't know HOW to "Sacrifice" in this Country- anymore... The very THOUGHT of having to "give up" our "toys" & Luxuries- would have half of us jumping out of Windows, commiting murders & selling our Children at auction on Ebay..! The very word "Resession"- is sending chills down Our Economy's spine these days... Can you IMAGINE how a Depression would be percieved??! :0

Let's see we got Social Security from the last depression. What will they call it this time? Cradle to grave Guaranteed Annual Income! GAI sounds good to me! The Swedes invented it first, but eventually we will catch on!

I agree, we are repeating it in a lot of ways, socialism bailed us out before, and people think it is a bad word now

I do not think it will hit us as bad, war will help us steal others resources

Not at all

If we had learned something from it, we wouldn't be repeating the mistakes.
