I have taken his temperature= 98.5. So, he doesn't have a temp but he has been having stomach problems. I've tried almost everything, already spoke to the doctor etc. I need to know what I can give him that will help him calm down and maybe sleep more than 30 minutes at a time. He has been doing this since 4:00 today and it is now 1:00 am where I live. Poor little boy is extremely tired. His eyes drift off to sleep and then he wakes up screaming in pain. Any suggestions are welcome. Mylicon is not working but it is definitely his belly. Thanks in advance.

Alot of people are so quick to either say your baby has colic or its a gas problem which is the same thing i was told when i went though this with my son. I had to hold him all the time or he would cry, even when i was holding him he would cry. If i sat down holding him he cried. I was always pascing back and forth patting his back and still it didnt help for very long. When i put him down he would wake up and cry. He would wake out a his sleep crying like he was in pain and i always felt so bad for him and would cry myself cause i didnt know what was wrong with him and he couldnt tell me. I changed his formula, gave him gas drops, karyo syrup and everything else i was told to give him and nothing worked. The doctors were no help. i did research online and found out what was wrong with my son. Does your does push himself back when he cries like he is in pain? its sound like the same thing i was going through. I found out my son has acid reflux. Before talking to the doctors about it, i tired something on my own and maybe you should give it a shot. It's not harmful to your baby at all believe me. Get some tums and desolve them in hot water and give a little of it to him. If you find that he gets relief when you give it to you baby then bring this to your doctors attention. After doing alot of research i found that the syptoms of reflux are very simliar to colic which makes it hard to dignois. My doctor gave my som reflux medication and the problem went away. Its worth a shot and it will not harm your baby. I know how you feel because i went though it for a long time before i found out what was wrong. If he is waking out of his sleep and seems like he is in pain that is more then likely the reason why. I did not breastfeed my son so i am not sure whether a baby can get reflux from breastmild but like i said its worth a shot. Good luck!

DO not give your child anything unless the Dr advises you too.
I have a 2 week old Right now they fuss A lot its kind of early for colic witch cannot be treated with anti gas meds. if you are formula feeding you may want to switch brands. gottalov your answer is completely riddiculas why would you make such a moronic statement like that? Babies cry some all day and others a little bit. They do not cry because of pain only.
see your babies dr in the am and push the issue if need be.
Good luck

If this keeps happening around the same time, and for long periods of time, he has colic. My son has it. He would scream and cry everynight for 4 hours straight. And I tried everything, the Mylicon drops did not work. With those, you have to give it to them before the crying starts, it wont work once the crying starts. At least thats how my son was. But I tried everything, nothing worked. A few weeks went by, and I found Little Tummies Gripe Water. It was amazing. It was instant relief for him. And with the Gripe Water, its all natural herbs, no meds or alcohol. I gave it to my son a few times everyday. It doesnt always relieve them completely, but enough so they can go to sleep. But with my son, it was the only thing that would work. I tried myicon drops, car rides, vibrations, warm towel or heating pad, etc. I would definately give it a try if this happens again. Its worth trying if it will help him. You can find it near the childrens tylenol and gas drops at some drugstores, but not all stores sell it. Make sure, if you try it, give it to him, keep him upright for 15-20 min after, it works better that way, burp him after every ounce. Are you formula feeding?? If so they make formulas that are easier for babies that have gas or colic. Email me if you need anything or have any questions.
One other thing that helped once in a while is the colic hold. Hold him face down with him supported on your forearms, or lay him on his stomach on your lap.
My son had colic since the first week he was born, hes 5 months and just now starting to get over it, so please feel free to email me.

Has anyone showed you the age old way to burp a baby?? Put the little guy up to your shoulder and rest his head there while you gently tap the little guys back---just ask if you don't know what i am talking about--moms have done this for ages--feed him and burp him and avoid all the panic and worry. relax--small servings of whatever you are feeding him---a little of this and a burp--you would scream too if you were fed and then had drops of some crap forced down your mouth--the baby is a baby--they DO cry---just don't bend the poor kid over and make all of these uncomfortable contortionist moves--burp the kid and then let him rest. Good luck !!

Sounds like it could be colic setting in - it starts around three weeks, peaks at six weeks, and is usually over by three months. No one knows exactly what colic is, there are studies galore on it. Could be gas, could be an immature nervous system, could just be that the kid is pissed to be out of the womb and it takes a while for him to get over it. :)
Try reading "The Happiest Baby on the Block" by Harvey Karp. The 5 "s"'s are great - Swaddling (tightly), Shushing, Swinging, Sucking, and.... I can't remember the last one, but it's a great book. Just drink lots of coffee and settle in for a rough few nights - but this too shall pass!!!

Its gas that is built back up in his body. there are a couple of different things you can do. 1 thing you can do is take apple juice and water make it a 50 50 mixutre (example if you do 2 ounces of apple juice do 2 ounces of water too). if you dont have apple juice you can use prum juice do the same thing with that too. after you do that or while you are feeding him that take your fingers and rub circles gently on his stomach to help relex his stomach. if you dont have any apple or prun juice you can take karyo syrup and put 1 teaspoon of it in to a bottle for him to drink but make sure that you have your breastmilk in the bootle too. another thing you can try is after you do the juice gix him up a bath and make the water just a little warmer than what you for a regular bath (about 98 degress) and place him in it and take a washrag and place into the water get it warm and place that on top on his stomach while he is in the water but just make sure you get the rag wet with warm water, and while he is in the water and with the rag on his stomach still continue to rub circles on his stomach and it may help him release part of the gas that he has built up. and as a last thing you can use is baby latative (the type that you have to insert into the buttom) but with him being that young i would not do the latative until you ask his doctor. i had to do all of this things wit my 2 month old son. but with the karyo syrup after he get him to go to the bathroom do the hayro syrup in 1 bottle every other day that way it helps him from becoming backed up again. i know its painful for him. i hope this helps and if you have any other questions email and ill let ya know if i have found anything else that helps.

Moving his feet like bicycle peddles will help (as someone already mentioned). Also, giving him a teaspoon of flax seed oil can help him if he is constipated. Try putting him in a warm bath, which can help his tummy feel better...but be prepared for him to poo in there. If he doesn't want to let go of you-my son never does when he's sick-then put on your bathing suit and take a bath with him...again, be prepared for poo though. You can also try rubbing his tummy slowly in circles with very light pressure-that helped my son sometimes.
I hope that helps. Make sure to get him in and seen if tomarrow if he hasn't already been in. Good luck to you and your poor little guy!

it's probably gas, or a possiblity that it could be collic, if your bottle feeding, try using playtex vent air bottles, they are great, and help with reducing gas and collic, also try rubbing his belly after he eats, and burping him a whole lot to help him get up the extra gas, also when mylicon didn't work for my son, i would try laying him on his belly when he would get fussy... it was hard to do at first because his belly was upset but i found that laying on his belly also helped push the gas up and made it easier for him to burp on his own which helped a lot and once he got the gas out of him he would stop fussing as much.... good luck and hope this helps

It's GAS.
lay him on his back and rotate his legs like peddling a bicycle!! that should relieve some air ..
.. or maybe rub his tummy [lightly] in a circular motion. If that does NOT work, TAKE HIM TO THE ER!!
a lady here in my city, her son [2 weeks old] cried CONSTANTLY and she took him to the ER and he has something wrong with his heart, he had to have heart surgery at 2 weeks old :(
please go to the ER!
