It should now be obvious to everyone that the right way to respond to 9/11 should have been with more peace, not more war.

Right... So they could further take advantage of the evil Americans and their nieve trust and acceptance of terrorist tactics.

Like a bunch of little kids on the playground, once in a while, someone stands up to the bully. I realize that these are liberal times, but in this case, talking about their agrivations and issues would result in another 20 or so UN resulutions ignored and more mass graves...

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight; nothing he cares about more than his own personal safety; is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of men better than himself"
John Stuart Mill

At least, then, he has the option to better himself, defend himself, and stand up for what is right, shoulder to shoulder with others now capable of doing so.

Islamofascism is insidious. The one thing many Americans don't understand is that Islamic fundamentalists are looking to and have recruited non arab Islamic fundamentalists to do us harm. Also, I know from extremely reliable sources that many of the imams that preach in our prisons here in NY are anti-government and anti-white and preach violence against the establishment. The prisons provide a wealth of recruits to Islamic Fundamentalist causes.

However, I agree with you that our soft power will be more effective then just going to war. It takes a combination of using our intelligence apparatus effectively as well as police, military in limited situations, and also other soft power like charities, having foreigners exposed to our enterainment and education, funding schools, hospitals, etc.

For example, after destroying some guys poppy fields in Afghanistan, help that farmer by giving him a grant to buy supplies and equipment so he doesn't starve to death and can support his family and teach agricultural techniques so he can make more money.

Kind of like the teacher going to prison, and almost executed, for encouraging her students to name a teddy bear "Mohammed".

Yeah...you can talk peace with these people.

Ever hear the true story about a Muslin school on fire? When the little girls came running out the men were shooting them dead because they didn't have their face covered. Real "peaceful" rational people.

Well "more peace" isn't exactly what they are looking for. It might be what you want, but the extremists consider the entire western way of life decadent and evil. They have no intention of stopping merely because you don't want to play anymore.

More Peace? Didn't try that after the Cole was attacked and two of our embassies in Africa blown up? Or even furthur back, in 1983 when our troops in Lebanon had a barracks blown up?

Those of you who say "give peace a chance" have got to realize that we tried that method for almost 20 years and where did it get us? 9/11 is all we got for our troubles.

The Osamas of the world are out to destroy us and our way of life and if we just sit around and talk with them, like the British did with Hitler, we will soon find ourselves on the short end of the stick and having to fight their war in this country!!

Wake UP

Ya we should have opened our hands of friendship...perhaps send them some teachers so they could read and write....maybe treat their children with love and give them teddy bears and the like...

They would have responded so well...they obviously love peace huh?

Iraq might not have been such a good idea...but peace with Islamofascism is not on my agenda.

At first, I thought the jihad was upon us and brown skinned men waving swords were going to chase up and down Main Street. At least this was what the Bushniks wanted us to think. Instead the US looks terrible with Gitmo and all of the foreign prisons that have been built to house brown skinned men. There are huge Navy ships that have been converted into prison ships to detain anyone the US feels deserves to be in shackles. If the Saudis and Egyptians are the ones who attacked us, why is it we invaded Iraq? Bush and his cronies have destabilized the world with their wars. Elect a Democrat.

I ask you, how can you peacefully talk to someone who is fanatically commited to your death? He'd kill you before you finished your first sentence. Figure it out, humanity's history is comprised of brief areas of peace admidst much greater times of war. PEACE DOES NOT EXIST! There is only the time inbetween war. Deal with it.

Put yourself in Nick Berg's shoes and ask the same question.

Go ahead. TALK our enemies to death.

Yet another idiotic question from the bottomless pit of left wing drivel.
