why cant it be 4 days of work and three days of being off? so it would be close to %50 %50. Does it has somthing to do with competeing with other countries production or what is it?

Have you ever explored being your own boss?
Not "get rich quick", but we are talking professional income in 2-3 years.
You could start to ween yourself out of the business world now and have plenty of time to play later.

it's nothing but the U.S. work standard and work ethic. it also just depends where you work, i have had lots of different schedules. probably we think we're competing but that's just b/s. we are the most hard-working country in the entire world, if you count the number of days we work (we all know that most of the time we just goof off at work - how much time do we really use to get things done?); not that much time is required to do most jobs. almost all other countries have more time off than we do. are we doing so much better than anyone else in the 1st world? no. so, the reasons? puritan work ethic. that's all.
