looking for infor on antique globes used to put over candles before the civil war?

It is made of glass

My mother told me that this globe was brought back by my great grandfather and he was born in 1840 and died in 1926.....He had built a table that it would sit on.......There used to be two of them but one got broke......

Additonal info...........it stands about 3 feet tall............

Which Civil War? Some of us think Abraham Lincoln, and some of us think Oliver Cromwell. I suspect that an odd glass globe is not going to be very valuable, unless someone has a base which needs a globe.
