I have absolutely NO idea if this is what you want. I just enjoy the challenge of doing Google searches. There is a link some where for the lyrics. Other than that, I didn't look any further.

I wasn't aware that the story was set to music.

Actually, now looking again at your question, I don't think that's the correct answer at all. I DO know that Martinu is also spelled Martineau. That might help.

If you cannot find it at the link given above, email me privately. I'm sure I have a recording which includes the full libretto and could scan it and send it to you. And incidentally, I've NEVER seen the composer Martinu's name spelt Martineau. That is an English pianist.
