Do you have something that is just yours. Something that it is understood between you and your spouce, like something personal? For instance, your laptop or phone, or anything else? If you do is your spouce upset about it?

if you do have something, please name it, I am trying to make a point to my husband about my laptop (which is my only form of privacy at all)

I am not hiding anything on the laptop. It just that I have absolutly nothing personal. I spend all day in the company of my 3yr and 6mo old. I cant even go to the bathroom by myself or take a shower. My laptop is the one place where I have my stuff (for school) and when I get on the internet, I'm me, not mommy, not "honey can you..."
so to me it is kind of personal. Also he has a desktop computer that I do not touch! And if he needed the laptop for some reason and asked to use it then I would have said yes. But I am offended when he just picks it up and starts using it!

Material things? No. Generally my laptop is mine and my cell phone is mine but he can use them if he needs to, we don't have any secrets from each other. We don't generally go into each other's email but we would never say no if the other asked to see it.

yeah they dont like that......... my wife wants to get into all of my stuff, and not even that I'm trying to hide anything. It's just the idea of it that makes me mad so I dont let her check my stuff and when she does I let her know I'm not happy with it. When it first started it was no big deal but after years of "checkin up on me" and nothing found it gets old and I dont need another mom.....mines just fine thanks.
I can partly understand the laptop but I'd really understand ur email. laptop should be no big deal though if u have something u dont want seen put it in a folder somewhere in ur laptop deep inside others that nobody would look.
I hear ya...........................

Everything I have is "ours". Everything she has is "ours". When you get married "the two shall become one". Unwillingness to share everything is a symptom of something greater that can make married life more difficult. We have been happily married for 34 years and will be 'til we die so, yes, I have some experience to back up my position.
I just noticed the last part of your post... Why do you need to keep anything private from your spouse? Privacy in a marriage is a form of dishonesty. That kind of stuff can take on a life of it's own. Not good!

The only things I have that are "mine only" are my clothing items. Everything else is "ours" and that is the way it has always been. We share everything, and have never had a problem. But, if we did have our own things, I do not think my hubby would get upset. He is very understanding.

I have my own computer as well as furniture such as a beautiful polished wooden entertainment unit and the wooden dining table and chairs, plus the wooden queen bed.

You shouldn't mind your husband using your laptop, unless you are hiding something from him. Let him see it. If he wantst to snoop, he will see that he is wasting is time. He will know that you are an honorable woman.

What is it you are hiding from him on your laptop? if nothing, then it shouldn't be a big deal
I would let my wife use anything of mine anytime she wanted, but that's just me.
