Ok first of all, Private Practice is NOT trying to be Grey's and that's what a lot of people get confused. The only thing these two shows have in common is the fact that they have the same producers and writers ... END OF STORY!

I like Private Practice better. I'm sorry but there's just too much drama and too many dramatic people to keep up with on Grey's Anatomy. This person is sleeping with that person ... wait, now that person is sleeping with this other person. Plus they are all interns (with the exception of what, three people?) which makes the show even less interesting to me. The interns get all of the attention on that show ... if that's what I wanted to see I'd watch E.R. which has been around a lot longer.

Private Practice is totally different. First of all, it's about a small medical practice so you don't have to follow the entire staff of a hospital. Also, everyone their is a certified medical doctor with the exception of Dell who is studying midwifery ... he's like the secretary there.

A lot of people think these shows are copycats but they aren't. People who haven't really watched Private Practice and given it a chance say stupid stuff like that. They are written by the same people and that's all. Most of the people who say they don't like the show and that it's a copycat say that because they either haven't watched an episode and have only seen previews, or they watched one episode. YOU CAN'T DO THAT! You can't judge a show by watching a preview or one episode. This show has progressively gotten better, and this next week's episode is supposed to be super explosive. When you are deciding whether or not you like a show, you need to at least watch three episodes so that you can safely say that you gave it a try and you just don't like it .... don't just assume it's not good because you THINK it's a copycat.

Private Practice is better to me too in the fact that the comedy and drama are balanced. Like I said, Grey's is constant drama. He's sleeping with her husband but he was already cheating before they were married, and they're sleeping with each other but wait now he's sleeping with her sister ... WTF? If I wanted to see that I could watch it during the daytime on something called a SOAP OPERA! With Private Practice the characters are new and fresh, and there are only two people in the practice sleeping together and they used to be married. Anyway, the comedy and drama balance .... I love how with Private Practice I can be laughing hysterically one minute and then the next I can be on the verge of tears. The emotions the show brings about and how quickly those emotions can change is greatness in my opinion.

And YES, Addison HAS changed ... that was the point of Shonda moving her to a new place! My gosh! She is trying to start over fresh and new. She still has the same spunk as Addison from Grey's, but now we're learning more about her. Each week a layer is peeled off of her and we learn something new. We've even learned personal stuff like what she doesn't do in the bedroom and stuff ... it's great.

Another reason I like Private Practice better .... they date OUTSIDE of their place of business. Sam and Naomi used to be married so they have a history and will always have feelings for each other, but the other characters are not all sleeping with each other like at that skanky hospital on Grey's. It's hard to believe that that much sleeping around is going on in one hospital. The characters on Practice date outside of the box whereas on Grey's they can't seem to escape the box. I mean there isn't one character on Grey's that you can't connect to at least two other characters in the sexual sense ... it's pathetic.

Another thing about Private Practice ... more maturity. Why? Because they are actual doctors, not interns. They don't have time to save deer or to sneak into closets and rooms to have sex ... they actually have to WORK! So the show is definitely for a more mature audience than Grey's is. Grey's has really gone down the hill in my opinion ... way down. And now that Addison has her own show I really don't see a need to watch it but I watch to see if it will go back uphill, but it hasn't.

I really hope this helps because all I saw was a lot of negativity in the posts above and I bet none of the people who made those statements really gave the show a try. It is a great show and with every episode it gets better. Like I said, next week is gonna be explosive. Private Practice is a hit ... and besides, it's been number one since it's premiere except for ONE Wednesday, and that was during Thanksgiving holidays. Grey's viewers have dropped dramatically ... check the statistics yourself, all you have to do is Google it.

love greys toooo <333
i like private practice
the fact that addison is the addison from greys makes it less enjoyable.... its a little weird
it would be better if they had created a separate show with separate characters but the same story line

I don't really like Addison as a character, so I don't really watch the show often (although it's worth watching it just to see Taye Diggs!) Other than that, I think it just gets a little repetitive with all the medical drama because I'm not as invested in the characters as I am for those of Grey's. That's just my take...

I think it's just stupid. Grey's Anatomy is good enough without a spinoff, and Addison was like a guest star in Grey's Anatomy...I don't really think she should be in a spinoff of it. If she has a spinoff maybe Denny Duckette should have one too seeing as though he was on the show for so long....

I love it and at this point its better than greys anatomy. The Gizzie thing is making that show unbearable. Not only that but annoying Meredith makes me want to......do something very very bad.

It's entertaining because Addison is a good character but the show just isn't as great as Grey's.
