Strongest experience is lying on my mother's lap and sleeping. She wont move leat she doesnt wake me up. Shes there by my bed when I am ill.

Nothing evokes a stronger feeling than that.

There have been plenty. The first that came to mind was when I took a ferry to this island in Japan. The only thing on the island was an old temple and a small strip of tourist shops. The deer would walk around in the ferry station. My friends and I climbed a mountain as the fog rolled in. When we got above the fog line all we could see was the sky, the mountain, and the fog below. It was sublime.

the week before a family friend committed suicide, i had a dream that i was in extreme danger and woke up in a panic. all week this dream caused me to lose sleep, stop eating, and a general sense of doom.

i woke up on a Saturday after a full night sleep, felt refreshed and relieved, first time in seven days. went for a long walk and stopped by to see some friends. after visiting for an hour, playing with the kids, my brother rang to tell me the family friend was found dead earlier that sat. morn.

needless to say i was very shaken by the whole affair. i have only spoke to one person about this before today. i never take friendships for granted any more.

two things come to mind:
on the honeymoon with my first wife (1971), we went to yosemite park and camped in a pup tent. one night a bear got into our food, it was in a large heavy wooden box chained to the picnick table and the bear got it opend and ate the food...she was less than 10 feet from my new wife and me, we stayed quiet and just layed ther and watched her (she was close enough that i could see it was a female and not a male bear) eat her fill and leave. that was too close, but what an experience....
and the other is when i went to an observatory with an astronomer friend of mine, and looked through that big telescope and having him describe what i was looking at...it is awe inspiring....just fills a person with awe and wonder to realize that some of the stars we see are actually star clusters several light years in size...makes a person feel rather small.....

There are two:

My best friend and I were outside during a thunderstorm (irresponsible yes, but we couldn't resist). We were running around shouting over the thunder and relentless rain and taking pictures with my digital camera in a ziploc bag. We were completely soaked and it was amazing.

I was on a run one day and we came into this field. There was nothing but endless land, rolling hills, and couple of soccer goals. It was quiet and I took off. I ran and ran and ran and ran. I was free.

:)

At night climb up on your terrace or go to an open field look up at the dark sky with stars thrown like diamonds of different sizes all over on the black carpet of the sky and slowly I would spin and spin u know going round and round and then drop down on my back----- it's beautiful.......well!!! I wont give away what I feel but its beautiful!!!! to me. That's one of my best. There are many more such small silly but genuine ones.

Our university campus is full of naturally growing trees, plants
and shrubs. I have posted some photos of them at this site:

my strongest experience would have to be when i was on the beach looking out at the ocean at night and thinking about how far it goes and how large it is. Its amazing.
