Lately my opinion does not seem to count when it comes to our government. They do just what they please without the peoples permission. What happened to this country being by the people for the people? And who are these people.

The country is controlled by the big businesses and industry, and the healthcare and insurance industrials. The middle class feeds the poor and the rich, and the only ones who reap in the cash are the super rich who sponge off everybody. For example, the same prescription I used to get for three bucks is now $69.00. Explain to me how this can be when the pills are exactly the same. They cost the pharmacies mere pennies, and they charge hundreds. That's just one small example of how the public is bilked. How about gas? I used to pay 35 cents a gallon, and now it's close to $3.00. Big business, babe, that's who rules the country.

At this point the trans-national corporations have the most influence on the world economy. It's all about them. Working class people have the least influence...none of it is about them! The current administration has legal control and in some cases 'extra-legal' control and they don't seem to have any sense of responsibilty in the way they use it. The Bush administration apparently stooges for the interests of big business and the Jesus freak right....they don't even know there is a 'working class' that has legitimate issues. To the reactionary right, working people are sheep to be sheared. 'Control' is probably too strong a word as it suggests that there's some actual hand on the throttle when in reality it's a runaway train. A body in motion, such as the 'reactionary' political movement since Reagan, isn't going to stop screwing the pooch unless acted on by an outside force. That force will be the reality of the US going broke, or electing a new government that reverses the free fall of their bad politics and policies. That's why I'm voting for the democrats....they KNOW they can't keep up the charade that everything is going to somehow work out if we just 'stay the course'. If they get their chance we may may just crash, but not crash and burn. It's a shot...with the GOP field it's the end of the line for the republic as we know it. No kiddin'!

The corporations run America lately. I agree the government pays no attention to what the people want. 70% of the people want us out of Iraq and for the borders to be secure. The government ignores us.
I agree with Jim P, we are a plutocracy.

It's not the oil companies, not the corporations like Wal Mart, not the media, nor is it the government bureaucrats. It's fricken Big Foot! I know, it sounds ludicrous, but it's true. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled off, was to convince everyone that he did not exist. Yea... wrap your noodle around that one.

It's too big with too many bureaucracies. It wasn't intended to be like this. Cut government. Go back to state, county and city level government for more control.

I lived as an Israeli citizen until i became 26 and all and sundry in Israel knew that the U.S. did because it became informed. Why do you think of the U.S. supplies Israel over 3 billion funds each year plus countless armaments? by using administration they have over the U.S. they are in a position to flee with genocide and practice apartheid with impunity.

The people who vote (less than half of those eligible BTW) and the money behind the people who vote.

I think we are becoming a constitutional plutocracy.
