I would guess the Yankees, who have led the League the most times and have hit over 100 HR's in a season the most times. As for the Cardinals, remember that before Ruth, 10 HR's was a lot for a player in a season. For example, the Legendary Casey Jones hit 10 in 1883 and 7 in 1884. As of 1920, the MLB Record was 138 HR's by Roger Connor over his 18 year career (average of 7.67 per season).

In 1961, the Yankees hit 240 home runs for the year. The record stood for 35 years 'til the Orioles broke it in 1996 with 257 HR's.. Then the following year in 1997 the Mariners broke it again with 264 HR's.

It could also be the Chicago Cubs, and remember during his time with Chicago, Sammy Sosa put up home run totals, whether the Chicago Cubs needed them or not. But this is a good question to look up, who knows somebody might find the answer, but only if you try.

Have not found the answer yet - but my guess might be the Giants - they had both Bonds (762) and Mays (660).
and they are one of the older teams (if you count the NY Giants and the SF Giants as the same team)

It is obvious that barry bonds hit the most home runs, but the St. Louis Cardinals did it because they have been in the major league since 1882!!
