well it's dust, and small particles that the little hairs in your nose block from going inside your body/lungs, it's also mucas that keeps your nostrils moistened...

It's simply dried snot, that clings to the little hairs in your nose, along with airborne particles that get in when you breathe. The mucus membranes of the nasal passages are always secreting, and especially when you have a cold. When they dry out, then you have boogers.
