I would say that the Isreali policies toward Iran and the middle East in general mirror the US policies pretty closely, largely because The fundamentalist Islamic movement (I'm including Iran in this) looks at the US and Isreal in nearly the same way. They are the "little satan" and the US is the "Great Satan". If Isreal falls to Islamic fundamentalism, We would be the next thing they concentrate on. In that sense, Isreal Is critical to our own security here in the US. We need them... They need us. It's that simple.

Israel does not control the American Foreign Policy, never did, never will. They are our friends and Ali. Or would you prefer to be closer to say Palestine and the likes of Hammas.

We need them so we are closer to the real power; OIL.
We supply them with nukes, back them with money, all so we can have someplace there to start from.
Its the reason most Muslim nations dislike us.
