IS CHINA TOWN CLOSE TO THE BELL CENTER???? I NEED THAT QUESTION ANSWERED PLEASE

Yes, I would probably walk it myself, mostly indoors.

From the Bell Centre there should be signs to Central Station, follow them, then go past it, through Place Bonaventure. Not sure if you can get all the way to the Palais du Congresse but that's what you'd be aiming for. If not, exit somewhere on de la Gauchetière and head east. From Palais du Congresse you'll see these big Chinese-looking gates and there you are.

Not sure about the purse situation, though.

It's pretty close. Bell Center is pretty much the western extent of downtown, and Chinatown is the eastern extent of downtown. If you walk from one to the other on Saint Catherine Street, you'll get a great tour of downtown!

Take 720 est exit just out of tunnel, and turn left, there is only one street( rue de la gauchetiere near st laurent blvd) in china town, many shops and restaurants there, very close to old montreal.

if you take the metro just go to station place d'armes (orange line)
the core street is la gauchetiere (parallel st catherine), the part sandwiched between st urbain and st laurent
