Yes I asked a similar question and really only a slim amount of people said they didn't want Santana that shows their limited amount of knowledge

Who knows how Santana could react in the Big Apple, the past people who have come in have shown they can't stand it?

I say build with young players and make it a more home grown team with better chemistry and in a few more years much better talent 3 > 1

If the Yankees have a chance to get Santana by giving up Cabrera and Hughes or Kennedy they should do it. Santana is a real prize and quite possibly the best pitcher in the game. Remember, with the Yankees getting Santana that means the Red Sox don't get him and the Yankees could not allow that to happen. The Red Sox would be too strong for years to come and it would put the Yankees in a real hole.

what your are saying makes alot of sense. Yet, the Yankees have been and alwasy will be a win now team. The Yankees dont look to deep into the future, they buy what they need to win. Santana is the best pitcher in baseball. The Yankees need pitching. Both of those 2 pitcher smentioned have great potential to be great but its a long hsot if they ever turn into a Santana. Aquiring Santana makes alot of sense for the Yanks, they lack a ace and they will be screwed if the Red Sox get him. Santana is still relatively young and the Yanks have the money to sign him long term. I dont see giving up Melky a sbein a big deal, yes he has potential, but the Yanks have th emoney to buy a centerfielder whenever they please

I can understand your concern. I think all Yankee fans have the same concern. But consider this, a prospect is just that! It's an unproven commodity. Hughes is by far the best player in the trade package but he still really hasn't proven himself over the long hall. That's not to say that he won't, he probably will. However, Santana is a proven commodity and I'd rather have that than someone untested.

Remember, we still have Joba "The Hutt" and he's the best of the batch!

I also disagree, but because i think its a good trade, provided they dont give away both Hughes and Kennedy. If the rumors are true, the Yankees could take a shot at Arron Rowand, who is a more than adequate replacement for Melky.
So, Melky, Hughes OR Kennedy, and a minor leauger or two would be a fine price to pay for a two time Cy Young winner who still has many years ahead of him. (besides if the red sox get him i'll just be pissed)

I wanted him traded but not to the Yankees because Hughes and Kennedy are bad players Melky Caberra is good though, the RED SOX will be better because the twins will get Crisp, Bucholz and Letser, you gotta look at both teams here.

I totally agree with you. Giving up Melky would jut simply leave a huge gap to fill in the outfield. We certainly can't put Damon in there, however there is a really good centerfield free agent class. And then giving up Hughes, and a prospect? I would trade Hughes for Santana any day but then we'd have to sign him to a record breaking contract. It seems like a crap deal to me.

Santana is in the top 5 pitchers in all of baseball.what are the chances of those young guys becoming as good as santana?every year in baseball, ever single team has 4 or 5 prospects, and rarely do they turn out to be as great as Santana is now.when there is a player that you know is great, always trade the guys for him who might be great

Hughes and Cabrera for Santana, isn't as bad as Hughes and Kennedy. It depends on what the Yankees need.

The Yankees are going to get Santana and then make a deal for Rowand to fill Melky's spot in CF. Count on it!
