For those of you who are other religions or non-religious:
Does it offend you when you walk into a store somewhere and 'Merry Christmas' is displayed?

I celebrate the Christian holiday of CHRISTMAS and it does not offend me if I go in somewhere and it says 'Happy Kwanzaa' or 'Happy Hannukah'.

Do you think the ACLU and other secular progressives are going too far with the banning of the word 'CHRISTMAS'?

I DO.

I think that it is your right if you want to say it. I however am offended with what Christmas has become and believe Christ should get his name out of what has become an evil greedy consumerism filled holiday about a fake fat man who stole the spotlight from the birth of a saviour. I would rather his name not be tainted by what I see as evil... that is just my opinion. There is more to Christmas than that.

I think its ridiculous that someone would be offended by that. It makes me so mad to see people freak out over something as little as Happy Holidays, X-Mas, Christmas, etc. Seriously, there are way more important things going on in the world. It's ridiculous how some people feel that others are being inconsiderate of their faith when you say Merry Christmas. Like, your supposed to respect their faith, but they can't respect your.

Freedom of speech, freedom to practice any religion is why so many people from other countries come here. People need to get over themselves and look for something more important to complain about.

I definitely think that banning Christmas is extreme. I mean, this IS supposed to be a free country. Not being able to so much as use the word Christmas kind of goes against the whole freedom idea. I celebrate the Christian Christmas holiday, and I think it's the best time of the year! :-)

not offended by Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hannukka, or anything really. Someone is wishing you a good holiday season no matter what you believe not trying to offend you. Notice they are wishing you a "happy" whatever so yeah, you'll always find someone who has something to complain about no matter what.

I'm not aware of the ACLU banning Christmas. I'll need to research this further. I know that it is a religious holiday and yet we as (Americans) have made it into a festive occasion. Giving gifts etc. Watching the kids open their presents. Being close to your family members. Isn't that what it's all about anyway? Besides..the smell of a freshly cut pine tree is indescribable.

Have we all turned into wimps? Why are so many people "offended" by so many things now? It hasn't always been that way. If somebody celebrates a holiday that I don't celebrate, that's great with me. I celebrate Christmas. I'm fine with Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and any other holiday that doesn't promote treating other people badly.

Of course not.
I'm Pagan and most Christmas traditions (decorating a tree, hanging up mistletoe, etc.) originally came from the Pagan holiday, Yule. I celebrate both Yule (Winter Solstice) and Christmas. To me, Christmas is about giving thanks for all that you have and spending time with those you truly care for. Merry Holidays!

You're not offended because your religion is the dominant religion and you don't feel singled out because you're part of the majority. It's okay to put "Merry Christmas" on stuff in stores, but I don't think it's okay to spread it in places like school.

I'm not offended, just jelous. I can't celebrate christmas because of religion, so every year I end up goin movies with bro and cousins. They shouldn't ban any words, especially christmas. Who cares, it's been called that for god knows how long.
