I love the BUMBO. It's safe if used properly. Many parents put it on a table or chair...and that is why injuries occur. When set on the floor, its fine. My son has been using this since he was 4 months old...he's now 10 months and still using it.

The bumbo seats prior to the recent recall wont have a warning label on the back..the newer ones will have a warning label. but thats it..the seat itself is NOT defective.

It's great (a bit pricey)...like all baby gear and toys...you shouldn't leave your child unsupervised.

It's a seat similar in consistency to Crocs shoes. You can wedge the baby in there and his/her bottom is lower than his/her legs so they're positioned in a semi sitting position and they sort of lean back in the seat. It doesn't cause any injuries to babies if it's used correctly. Place it on the carpet while you sit with the baby and be ready in case the baby moves a lot. Many babies LOVE sitting in their bumbo seats because it lets them sit up before they are able to do it on their own. They're 35-40 dollars and you can find them at any baby store, and even Target has them. You can also get a tray to go over the top of it for toys or finger foods.

It's a special seat that helps newborns sit up (before they can sit up on their own). I did not have one but heard that they are great and help the baby learn to sit independently. Someone told me just today that the BUMBO seat was recalled because some idiot parent set it on the counter with their kid in it. But I know there is an alternate brand of the same thing at Babies R Us.

i'd go with the bebepod prince lionheart seat. i love how it has a tray and a toy you can put on the tray. and it keeps the child in the seat a bit more secure verses the bumbo seat. the bumbo seat does have an attatchable tray but it doesn't look as secure.

its a few bucks cheaper at walmart than target.

Yes the bumbo seat was recalled you can look at parents.com to see for yourself. I bought my son the bebe pod which is the same with a higher back. He loves it!

The bumbo seat is a seat designed to help babies learn to sit up. It is designed so that babies won't fall out. There has been a recall on the seats however due to babies toppling over in them. There are no straps to hold them and as babies get older and more mobile they can fall over in them. All in all I think its a great seat if used correctly.

The head injury recall was due to head injuries of babies who were placed on elevated surfaces (tables) and put in the chair. Not the chair itself. My daughter loved hers.

A baby can fall off a table with or without a chair and guess what, head injury occurs.
Do we need to tell parents not to let their kids play in the streets too, or not to ride a bike on a table?

I just read an article that the bumbo seats are being linked to hundreds of head injuries. I don't know if they've been recalled yet though. Tell her to do her research first, or maybe you can look into it for her.

I believe that brand was actually recalled b/c if infant injury. please dont get one. incourage her to help her baby balance and maybe use a boppy but she will still need to help him out.

thats what mommies do and its fun when the get in on their own even for a 1/2 a second!

They were recalled about a month ago and I couldn't find them on Babies R Us or Wal-Mart. Some idiot parents were leaving their children unattended on tables, and the babies would fall and hurt themselves. Duh. Otherwise, I have heard great things about them.
