My friend got her boyfriend out on bond, using a payment plan with the bondsman. She agreed to pay $250 every two weeks. She said $2000. She still owes $500. Her boyfriend's charges were dropped now she says she is not paying since it is over. What could the bondsman do to her? She didn't put up any collateral.

The bond is the fee for the bailbondsman to put up the bail for your friend's boyfriend. The bailbondsman fulfilled his end of the deal, and now she is going to stiff him? I hope neither she nor her boyfriend ever gets arrested again, because if you stiff a bailbondsman you will have to come up with the whole bail amount yourself because that sort of thing goes around and nobody will bond them out again.

I am pretty sure that she HAS to pay the money back. Although the charges were dropped, the bondsman still had to put up the bond. She might beable to neogotiate with the bondsman, but I would certainly not avoid him!
