What if Jesus existed but was not the son of God. He was a normal man who people believed was the son of God...

I don't see why not. People believe all sorts of things regardless of whether or not their beliefs are rational, necessary, supported by evidence, logically consistent, not self-contradictory, possible, etc.

The only account of the existence of Jesus, that I am aware of, is in the Bible. (I don't put stock in that thing.) If he were doing the things he was said to have done, it seems he might have popped up in some other records... somewhere. Maybe not.

However, it is possible that there was a man named Jesus who was absolutely unrelated to a false God. But if, in people's desperation, they chose to see some hippie as the son of God, then, sure, it is possible.

Look at the power Charles Manson had. Or Jim Jones.

(Power is not necessarily a good thing.)

Do you mean that Jesus existed but he wasn't the son of God?

You can. It's possible that Jesus existed without there being a God, and that the people that wrote the bible just gave him superpowers. Maybe he was just a good dude who traveled around helping people, trying to show them that compassion for others was the best way to serve God.

What do I know? I'm athiest.

Because..Jesus by all Chrisitians as the son of God. You can't have one without the other. To believe in Jesus historically existing is different then worshiping him. If that's what you mean?

The only way that you can believe in Jesus but not in God is if you don't believe that Jesus is God.

Christians believe that Jesus is God.

Other religions believe that Jesus was a real historical figure but not God. They believe in Jesus but not God.

In Christianity, Jesus is God. You see God has 3 natures, but is one person. He is made up of:
God the Father
Jesus the son
Holy Spirit
But God is only one person... it is a lifelong mystery that no one can truly understand.

I can entertain the idea that there was once a man named Jesus, but that is a long way from accepting myths.
