First of all, Johan's contract will probably be extended by whoever signs him. He does want extended just not the way the Twins want to. If he doesn't like the terms he'll use his no-trade clause.

Second, I also think a lot of the chance the Mets had went away with Lastings Milledge. I don't think there is much anyone else wants.

Third, if you could get a trade, you would get the better end. No one in your farm system really has the potential to reach those heights.

Fourth, I completely agree with you. The Yankees and the Red Sox don't want the other to get Johan, but the Mets could concentrate on the less expensive ones like Dan Haren. It would cost around $20 million or more a year to sign Johan, a costly investment.

There are two trading and free agent signing markets in the MLB: the one for the Red Sox and the Yankees, and the one for the rest of the league. Its bad enough they will definitely outbid any team that wants a player they want, if they both want the same player, you do not want to be caught in the crossfire.

Did we forget how the Red Sox paid 50 Mil just to talk to Dice-K while the Yanks are about to give A-Rod all the money in the world and a small island? No way Santana is going anywhere else unless his accountant is smoking...

this makes the mets alot greater advantageous. surely you replace the innings lost by Glavine's departure and you earnings the final pitcher in baseball. So not in ordinary terms are you getting a bonafide ace, you're making your bullpen greater advantageous by making them could desire to artwork much less. you're additionally making something of your rotation greater advantageous because of the fact your former #a million Pedro is now your #2. And on the different end of the rotation you have Hernandez or Pelfry somewhat of Hernandez and Pelfry. including a great pitcher truly strengthens your team.

The Mets are in the mix but down on the list and I would expect Santana to go elsewhere.

I will bet the Twinkies will keep him this year. His stock will go up if there is one team who is close to the pennant in July.

Sure, it makes sense to go get him now, but the Twins seem to be asking too much at this point, and I don't think there are teams willing to give him 150 million over six years at this point, coupling that with losing young players.

There is dollar cost, and the opportunity cost (the prospects). That is just too much.

Sorry but they wont land him. They dont have the prospects that the Yankees, Redosx and Dodgers can offer. They have Gomez as trade bait but they just traded away what could have been good trade bait for them "Milledge" and Pelfrey and Humbera are not as sought after are promising as Huges or Kennedy

Well, first of all NO.

Second of all, it has been made clear that Johan will work out a contract extension with the team that the Twins wish him to be traded to, as long as he accepts it.
