I, personally can't acknowledge any religion that calls being gay a sin. Love is love.

The Bible is, in my opinion, a guide for living a life of peace and kindness based on the belief of God and Heaven. As times change the Bible stays the same...so many of the teachings do not fit in to our society. For instance, the Bible does not promote equality between men and women. Furthermore, it has references to owning slaves. Basically, the Bible should not be used as an excuse for hatred and prejudice like many people do. Homosexuality is not a sin and people do not need to slander good people in the name of God...if you believe in God then you know that we will all be judged by him when the time comes.

Also, according to the bible, these are also sins:
- Eating too much food and getting fat and greedy (Gluttony)
- Having Sex before marriage
Does this mean that people follow either of these always? Absolutely not.
Remember, the bible is the most biased book in the world; it can be changed over and over without punishment because 'god said so'.

For the 1,2353,658th time -- no, being gay is not a sin.
The people who say so are relying on erroneous or disputed translations of Scripture, and interpreting the Bible to support their own bigotry.
Its important to understand that people in Biblical times did NOT understand homosexuality or same-sex behavior the way we do today.
In Biblical times, same-gender sexual interactions could take many forms.
Kings of conquered tribes were sometimes anally raped by the invading army as the ultimate symbol of defeat and humiliation. Such rape was also a way of humiliating visitors and strangers. These were acts of power and domination and had nothing in common with consensual sex by gays and lesbians.
Some religious groups both in and around ancient Israel had male prostitutes in their temples who ritually engaged in same-sex activities. These practices were frequently condemned in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament). Temple prostitution is no longer found in most areas of the world.
In biblical times, sex was regarded as an activity engaged in by a dominant person and a submissive person. For a man to play the role of a submissive partner would be a reversal of roles, and unacceptable.
It was common within the Roman Empire for male adults to keep boy prostitutes for the purpose of sexual activity. The boys were often slaves. In modern times, this is considered extreme child abuse, a criminal offense.
It is reasonable to assume that many loving gay and lesbian relationships existed in Biblical times. Rabbi Gershon Caudill wrote: "Like all indigenous peoples, the Jews were not overly concerned about male homosexuality, where two men lived together in a monogamous, sexual relationship. As a rule, it did not get any notice....The Talmud does not record a single instance of a person being brought before the Sanhedrin on the charge of homosexual activity." Only this last type would have any similarity to today's gay and lesbian consensual, committed, loving relationships.

Hehe I love your avatar, Rikku <3
Anyways, in answer to your actual question, no it is not a sin, it's just the Bible has been often translated in a way to suit someone's ideas and prejudices, and not for what it is.
Here are two short articles that might help you:

Don't worry they're short :)

firstly, the bible does have several passages that speak out against homosexuality, at least in the translations that have been translated so many times that the original meaning was lost centuries ago. my personal belief is that what we read today has been nistranslated and misinterpreted from the original text, and that the only times that god actually speaks out against homosexual sex is in reference to rape, prostitution, and pedophilia. coinicdentaly, god also speaks out against those exact same things in heterosexual sex.
but, because the majority of religious people will say "i don't hate gays" and then turn around and everything they do and say regarding gays just reeks of hatred, i have a hard time with organized religion as a whole.

No, it is not a sin. For something to be a sin, both of the following must be met: The person must fully know what he/she is doing is wrong AND must freely choose to do it. Since being gay is not a choice, that knocks it out right there. It is not wrong to be the way God made me.

In the bible, it does say that being homosexual is a sin because there's not many ways to reproduce.
But screw that. Religion sucks.
