calista.
i just "discovered" it...is it weird or cute?
"It is of Latin and Greek origin, and its meaning is "cup; fairest, most beautiful".
i would pronounced it ka-liss-tah.

the reason i put "discovered" in parentheses is because obviously i didn't discover it, but rather began to consider it as a baby name instead of just a name i had heard. you don't have to be rude!

Pretty but maybe better with middle name or as a middle name. Names don't account for personality.

i personally think it is a great name, but the more important question is, "how easy or difficult will this name be to grow up and live with?" there are a large number of people each year that change their names since they find it difficult to live with the names that their well-intentioned parents endowed them with. the name calista has a beautiful sound and meanings and also has some good potential nick-names. don't forget, "most beautiful" dosen't imply just the outside of a person, so more importantly give your child all the tools she'll need to be beautiful inside!

It's very pretty, and it is not weird. In fact there is an actress with this name-- Calista Flockhart who is married to Harrison Ford.
When her show was big, the name was at #519 in the USA, but currently is at #864.
It is rare, but not too rare.
I like it. If you love it, go with it! Great meaning!

I like it. Remember the actress Calista somebody who was Ally McBeal and dated Harrison Ford? Besides her, I've never heard it used and I think it's beautiful.

Well obviously there have been other people named this. But you can change around the spelling a bit to make it slightly more unique and/or pretty. Like Calysta, or Kalysta, stuff like that.

People, "dicovered" is in quotations, she means she just noticed it. God. As for the name it reminds me of this rude girl I went to high school with. But the name is pretty, Maybe spell it with a 'K'.

I think it is a beautiful name. And don't let anyone tell you not to name your child something because its weird. I named my kids Storm, Evan, and Dane. Someone else may think that they're weird, but I'd rather name them something weird than something totally common.

There appears to be an actress called Calista Flockhart, who was born on 11 November 1964.
According to her biography at www.imdb.com she was named after her great-grandmother.
That suggests to me that Calista is not exactly a new name!.
