It's supermans kid. Remember this movie takes place after Superman 2, and in that movie he gave up his powers to be with Lois. They hooked up in the Fortress of solitude and that was the only way she could have conceived his child because if they tried it when he had his powers he would have killed her.
I know you're thinking that sounds crazy, but as with all his powers, everything is superhuman, even ejaculation would happen at supersonic speeds, thus killing a normal human woman. So the kid did inherit his strength and is half kryptonian/ human so that's why he was able to push the piano across the room but wasn't affected by the kryptonite.
I hope I was able to shed some light on the whys and wherefores of the whole thing, and hopefully didn't bore you in the process.

The child's parents, as fans suspected all along, are Lois and Superman's. Superman II (starring legendary actor, the late Christopher Reeve), fills in the questions posed and "Returns" picked things up from there.
The piano throwing scene pretty much confirmed suspicions--as Lex logically put it all together too upon learning of the incident--which caused him to flee the ship.
The child possessed powers that allowed him to locate Superman--and "jump start" his dad's weakened body.
The "Superman Returns" sequel is an interesting thought--and surely must be in the works, likely at the discussion stage at this moment. It's anyone's guess if any sequels will emerge.
