how do i write a poem?

whats a poem what is it suppose to include i have to do 1 for my english class

you vision yourself standing there with a camera and instead of using your camera you use words to paint a picture for the reader. It isn't outpouring all your feelings, you are standing back watching a certain situation of your choice - and then you describe the people and the sounds and what's happening and the feeling and all that.

I published one a few years ago about an auction and the person selling the items was in the audience, and I focused on the tension in the room and the look on his face.

Or I read one about a dream where the poet took a picture of what the dream looked like.

you don't need to rhyme - that is usually not best. only if you are a rapper.

First, write down a basic of what you want to express. Then, think of the words that fit which have a rhyme to them. Example: pills, thrills, kills....etc. You get the idea.

Rhythm is also important; the sentences have to comfortably flow. Read some classic poems and you'll see what I mean here.

Poetry are essay expressions of flowing, rhythmic sentences that carry rhyming words, giving the reader a clear picture of what is expressed. Your basic songs on the radio are poems set to music. Rap is the exception: it is crap w/out the letter "c".

pick a topic and write about it...it's a lot like subjective writing... where normally you see prose, now you'll use words to describe the aesthetics or lack there of of something. some people write about emotions, but often, that can come off as immature and childish.

A poem is a personal expression of thoughts and/or feelings...
It should contain words.

If you want you can take mine, from two questions ago, take out the part about the star, and change it/use it how you'd like....that's one way.
