thanx for yr answers i've handed my beloved evo to an expert its in a garage hopefuly we'll be bac on the road soon before she retires for the winter months xx

A girl with an Evo3, sweet! Okay, first off, are the injectors squirting? Is the air filter clean?
Also, the Evo 1-3 ECU's have a nasty habit of conking out, due to the capacitors being cheap. If the engine's getting fuel, air, spark and compression, your ECU has crapped out. Sounds like a good time for an upgrade, like a Haltech.

If the engine turns over on the starter, then you probably have no spark.
Check the connections to the distributor, and if all are well, i would suspect the ignitor module.. (it may be inside the distributor)
