THINK about this question, seriously!
A PAD, in the WATER... it won't soak up ANY blood because as soon as the pad touches water it will get soaked up by THAT and just be a soggy diaper.
You MUST use tampons (or a moon/diva cup) while doing water activities or you WILL bleed into the water. Your period DOES NOT stop nor does it slow down (it only gets dispersed and LOOK like it does, but you WILL bleed into the water).
Tampons or no water.

the blood stops coming down slowly when your in water but that would be gross and emabrassing seeing blood in the pool because the pad doesn't absorb it completely because the pad would absorb the water also.
put a tampon on if you want to swim. that's absolutely fine but remember, don't leave a tampon on too long under water because the tampon also absorbs the water, so constantly try to change it.
then after your done swimming, put a pad on if you want.
i always do this when i go swimming and i have my period. trust me, it's nothing out of the ordinary.
good luck =)

I've tried that: DOESN'T WORK! I'm a swimmer as well, and when you put on a pad, it absorbes liquid. The pool will soak it up in 2 minutes. (put a pad in a full bath tub to see a demenstration).
What a tampon will do is absorb the liquids (your period) and when the water comes through [because of the string]. This is why you can only have a tampon in for 1 to 2 hours while in water.

NO. The blood will go into the water, not safe.... Also you may end up with an embarrassing situation on your hands as the bloody water leaks when you get out of the pool
First you need to address why you are scared to use the tampon (afraid it will hurt, or that you will lose your virginity) USING a tampon does not cause you to lose your virginity. I get asked this on my clinic A LOT!!
You can use a tampon, just get a slim one and make sure that you use the plastic easy glide tampon..... if you want more help, add to your question.
Stinks being a girl sometimes hu? Good luck.

It is perfectly okay to swim while you're having your period. It's a good idea to use a tampon while you're swimming, since a pad will just soak up the water, and remember to change it often.

dear roses are red,it is okay to use a tampon females do it all the time just relax and sit on a toilet seat with legs spread apart
take a deep breath and rest the tip of it at the bottom of your
vaginal opening then slowly ease it toward your middle back and push it in if you do not wish to use one you could use a pad but it would be much more prone to leak but do not stress about it OK i have 3 sisters so i have helped them put one in many a time before feel free to message me if u need some one to talk to i will never judge you i do not even know you!!! HA HA HA plz do if you feel like you need to at alphonse1012@yahoo.com

I just started using tampons actually & I'm 19, though I must say they can be pretty uncomfortable. But I have swam with a pad on, & no blood has leaked through, so you should be safe. Though really there's nothing scary about tampons besides the fact that they can be a little uncomfortable, but as long as you change it every few hours or don't leave it for no more than 8 hours you're fine.

nope you can't swim with a pad on...it'll get soaked and do you no good. it's best to just try a slim tampon with an applicator like the pearl. Otherwise you should not swim.

a pad in the water will be like a wet soggy diaper. - you will also be able to see it.
tampons are so comfortable and much easier to deal with. you'll almost have to wear one to swim.
do you have a friend or maybe your mom to show you how? my mom stood outside the door and talked me through it.
there is also a paper inside the tampon box that will show you pictures and walk you through.
if you are young, i would recommend a smaller size and a plastic applicator. tampax or playtex are both good. they even have teen sizes.
