Almost everything I use on a daily basis. Seriously ,the craftsmanship is not there anymore. Everything is plastic and cheap and made overseas. It breaks soon after you get it home if you can get it out of the packaging that is.

The first thing that comes to mind is the modern cars of today.
Where did all of the chrome go? LOL. My hubby is often
commenting on the way that cars' aren't built anymore. And
when he sees a 50's model on the roads, he sits up and takes notice. And he'll say, the phrase you mentioned. And
he'll add, 'Now that is an automobile'! Cars of today are built
so poorly that in a head on collision, people are killed instantly, as the front end gives way like a plastic car would. But in the older cars from many years ago. they were built more sturdy and offered protection in an automobile mishap.
Furniture, isn't made to hold up for many years, as it was
when I was growing up. My mother had her couches and
chairs recovered due to her noticing that modern pieces
weren't made to hold up. They seem to use a more flimsy
coil in the support springs, and they tend to flatten very soon
after purchasing.
The same with bed springs in a Simmons mattress. We
bought a top of the line model costing around $1,000.00
and after a couple of months we already were experiencing
mattress sag. We were actually laying in hollowed out areas.
And we were stuck with that mattress. I tried to get it replaced
but because of exchanges for firmer units in previous weeks,
they wouldn't agree to another exchange. So we ended up
selling it, for not using it further, due to a lack of back support.
And the couple was so glad to find a bargain like ours for a
new mattress that was very attractive. And apparently firm
enough for them.
The only company I can think of that still takes great pride
in their products from what I've been told, is the Fuller Co.
as they sell brushes that last an entire lifetime. I know I had
a childs brush that had been my younger sisters' and I had it
for my children when they were small. It was perfect for tender
little scalps. It was also passed on for futher use.
Silverware that is made from stainless steel is another
product I've seen of cheaper metal and the tine's section of
the forks, often loosens from the handles and fall apart quickly. As well as knives and spoons.
I find that drinking glasses tend to break more easily, and
dishes chip fast or crack their glazed finish. I guess that
shoes and clothing tend to last a sufficient time, but not all
brands. So that you do have to pay more to get an average
amount of wear from both.
The adage, "you get what you pay for', is so not appropo
anymore. I can't think of the name right now, but there is a
company that sells leather purses and luggage that charges
extroidenary prices and they have poor quality. There are
knock off's of their products and you can't tell they are not
the original high end product, and that's why they are so
popular. They look like the real deal, and made the same
with plastic and leather.
There isn't pride in productivity any longer and there hasn't
been for a decade. And you can't even be guaranteed a
lifetime of use, on just about any product you purchase. This
is so sad, that cheaper elements are used to produce a
product to save money for the maker and allow a heftier
profit margin. But that's the way it's become in the good
old USA.

Am still using a GE handmixer that has to be at least 25 years old! It's not a pretty sight anymore, but works just fine.

Most of the other small kitchen appliances that I replaced for "newer and better"....well, they've had to be replaced time and time again. They just don't hold up!

Oreo's and Lorna Doone shortbread cookies.

They haven't tasted as good since Oreo stopped using lard and Lorna stopped using "trans fat".

I still love Oreo's - my fave packaged cookie - but they don't have the same taste or texture....However, still great when dunked in a glass of cold, cold milk.

I gave up Lorna Doones in October when they became "transfat" free. It went from a buttery, crumbly, melt-in-your-mouth wonder to what feels like a mouthful of sawdust....YUK!

My father (who passed away 13 years ago). He was a doctor who made house calls. He worked hard & made a good living, but gave away a lot of money to friends, family and the less fortunate. Unfortunately, they don't make them like that anymore.

Furniture....good grief ~~~ I bought a new mattress/box springs this week. Was looking for a decent headboard and an end stand.
Not only did they have a very limited selection of what I was looking for but it was total junk.

Commercials are another thorn in my side. They emotionally drain me -- they are so ridiculously STUPID!!!
Thank Goodness for the "mute" button close by my side. :)))

The actor James Stewart. I can find a decent household appliance or car, but I sure have not seen a man like him around.

Pinwheel cookies. They were our families favorite growing up and we only got them on special occasions. Now they are covered with "chocolate fudge coating" and they are just not the same at all.
