nice city, weather's a little warmer than in San Francisco. you can also try, San Bruno!

Its not that bad, home to some fairly big companies. Its south of San Francisco airport by about 5 miles and is linked to the east bay by the San Mateo bridge.
They have some good places to eat and not that much else.

Pretty nice, but nothing special IMO. I rarely heard people traveling San Mateo.

gosh, when I lived there almost 50 (yes 50!) years ago, it was a great town- guess it's changed. I can't believe that there aren't some nice areas there though. If you want that general area and can afford it, try Belmont or San Carlos- they couldn't possibly have deteriorated and were really beautiful. Check them out on the web.

Not really, there are parts that are OK....I mean it isnt terrible, its not somewhere you like feel unsafe or anything crazy, but it also has no pretty stuff, its crowded, dirty etc. Plus side is good location in the bay area
