In 1986 my daughter and I were in a terrible car accident. We were both taken to the ER in ambulances. She and I both had surgery. She went to intensive care for 7 days and me for 8 days. That part of the story is unimportant. This is the important part. With her husband and her oldest daughter in the hospital at the same time, my wife spent hours at our sides. She would go room to room. She was always dressed in her "Sunday to go to Church Clothes", her hair was perfect, and so was her makeup. I never saw her cry. There was no redness around the eyes. She looked upbeat and caring. She helped both of us threw this situation and to me it looked like she could handle this sort of thing everyday.
Next was in 1990, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma stage 4. The oncologist was not to rosey on the outlook. Each time I sat down in the chemotherapy chair my wife would come in with an ice cream sandwich for me and tell me to eat up, I needed my strength. I was fortunate because I was a day patient. Each night we could talk and laugh and remember. If I got scared she would hold me and if she got scared I would hold her (which was a lot less often). We, underlined we, made it through this and all sorts of other health problems.
We have been married now for 37 years. I like to say that behind my eyeballs is the same 19 year old girl I met at a college party. She has been with me in good times and in bad times and even inbetween times. She once said that when we were married we said in sickness and in health and in good times and in bad times; this she has taught me and this is what we both believe. I would not trade her for two trophy wives. She is the best part of me I know.
I haven't yet found something she does that drives me nuts, but I will let you know when I find out. However, I am sure I drive her crazy every day.

I love the way she smells just after she showers.
What drives me nut is the over use of the snooze button.
Get up already!

She cuddles up to me in bed - i dont know how she does it but every part of her seems like is touching every part of me.
She watches some shopping network all night - just the sounds drives me nuts.

I most love that he is so gentle and sweet. What drives me nuts is that he sometimes makes smacking noises when he eats.

I love that he knows me so well, and that he goes to such lengths to make me smile.
the only complaints I have are the fairly normal ones: too much sports watching, I wish he were more publicly affectionate. The number one thing is that sometimes when we lie in bed talking, he just randomly falls asleep.
Also: the double edged sword. He works very hard, almost too hard. I miss him and wish he were around more often.
