You can be arrested for theft. UPS knows what address it was dropped off at. Plus - it's bad karma to keep it.

No you can't. Think about how you would feel if you purchased something and it was delivered to the wrong address. The shipping company is listing it as delivered so you would be out the money you paid for it. This just happened to a friend of mine, she is out the money. Look at the address and see if you can deliver it yourself, if you can then take it over to the rightful owner. You will have the satisfaction of knowing you helped someone out and someday maybe someone will do the same for you. If you aren't close enough to deliver the package, call the delivery company and ask them to pick it up at your home for correct delivery. Remember, what goes around..comes around, so do the right thing...

I'm gonna tell ya what no one else has told you yet. I've read the answers you've got and even though all or most tell you to do the right thing and send it back. The fact is like it or not , Your a freakin theif . It's as simple as that . Your a freakin theif. You get a package and you know it's not your's , and instead of automatacally sending it back to it's rightful owner , you jump on (answer's) to see if you can legally keep it. Your a theif...... In your heart you want to steal it because someone made a mistake and now you think you have a right to it.
You probably wont pick my answer as the best one but thats ok , I don't want nothing from a theif anyway. If you ever gave me anything , I'd get rid of it quick before I got busted for possession of stolen goods. Your a theif.

No. Call UPS and tell them to pick up the package since it does not belong to you. It is theft if you keep it. Beter stay out of jail.

Not legally, no. You are required to notify the carrier that it was delivered by mistake, and allow them to collect it. You're not responsible for actually doing anything to get it back to them - they can't say "Bring it to our office" or "Deliver it to the right person", but you must allow them to come and get it.

If you are a thief, then of coarse you would keep it... If you are an honest and moral person return the package to UPS for correct delivery.

You could probably keep it and get away with it but only if you wanted to be an a$$hole. Otherwise you should try to get it to who it belongs to. It's the right thing to do.

Do the right thing and try to see that it gets to the real owner. It is probably a Christmas gift for crying out loud.
