If you married a guy and got pregnant and then the doctor told you the the child can be mentally challenged, would you keep the child, or abort it? This was soooo mean but most of my friends said abortion, i think its a crime! I swear i would keep that child i dont care. What do you guys feel about this?

Abortion is never, ever unacceptable. The only way i can even possibly think of it, is if the mother life is at risk.

But mentally challenged? Thats just not cool. If you were having a child, you should love him/her no matter what! Or else your not ready to be a parent!

i would abort it
that child is not gonna like living as much as it deserves to
he/she is not going to experience most normal things like driving, dating, going out
they will be a handful most of the time eventhough they do have their wonderful moments
it will ware you out because its very hard to take care of a mentally challenged kid (i volunteer at a special ed. school, i would know)
and that kid is going to be unhappy because of what he/she cant do
special ed. kids cry a lot because they make sooo many mistakes and the only way to teach them they were wrong is to get mad because it you dont they will take advantage of you
special ed. people are not accepted in our society
its sad to see people living this way
i would NEVER want to put my own child through this kind of pain
and i didnt even mention all the medical stuff they have to go through

I have a child with severe disabilities and it NEVER occurred to me to get an abortion. Is my life hard? Hell yes. But would I sacrifice my life to make his life better? I already do, he doesn't even realize it, and I wouldn't change a thing.

You're all pretty young yet. But when you get older and are ready and actually choose to have children, I bet your friends will feel differently.

It takes a special person to raise a special child like that. And if you didn't want him/her why not give them up for adoption instead of abortion?

Doctors have been known to be wrong. I'd wait and hope for the best. Abortion is out of the picture, for me anyway.
