Does anyone know approximately how much it would cost to have a dead tree (maybe about 20 ft tall) cut down and removed? I'm having handyman-type old guy do it for me and don't really know what to pay him?

Do you mean $100 per tree? I really need 3 taken down!

If so, that seems kinda low don't ya think? Or is it that professional companies just charge ridiculously high prices? I think I remember getting an estimate (after a storm, though) of around a grand to do it.

Depends on how easy or hard the job is. If it's out "in the clear" with no risk of it falling the wrong way, probably $100. If it's near the house, or even worse, hung up in another tree, expect to pay $300.

Had a cherry tree removed approximately 20 ft. high. quite wide for $100. Tree service removed all the wood left a clear area where it once grew, down to the stump line. Stump is still there.

Ask him how long he thinks it will take him and removal , about. Being a handy man when he tells you figure in your head $10 -$15 per hour if it sounds right. If you are going to pay allot of money you may as well call a tree service

I just had a dead tree cut down - it was about 25 ft. I paid $360 to have it cut down & hauled . . . plus another $180 for stump grinding it out.
