I'm a student in Vancouver. From sometime in October to late March, the weather can get downright depressing - overcast, continuous rain, snow, and not to mention the cold! It makes me unproductive and prevents me from looking forward to anything. My question is how can I stay happy in such a depressing city? I'm not used to it. I've lived in Dubai and California my whole 20 years.

I understand that, because I used ti fell the same way when I was living in New York. Thanks God,I moved to Florida and I'm much better now.You can go out to a night club, but if it's too cold or if you don't get company, you may call some friends or family, listen nice music, rent comedy movies, cook or order your favorite food, clean and decorate your place...
Good luck,and hearts up!

Same here- I am from Vancouver too!
The depressing mood occurs from lack of vitamin D, which we obtain from sunlight. Vitamin D can be also found in fish and dairy products. Another option is vitamin D pills.
Vancouver is not so depressing once you know the right places to go to.

You may be suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Have you tried using a full spectrum light? They help some people (but are expensive). Avoid the cheap (e.g. fake) lamps.
