I have the 2007 Norton Internet Security and I have noticed my computer running slower, so I ran a full system scan. It only found one problem, and it was called a "Tracking Cookie". I had it resolved and it said there were no more problems. Then the next day I ran the scan again and it found the same tracking cookie and I resolved it again. Ive done this everyday and theres always that same tracking cookie there that I have to get rid of. How do I permanently get rid of it? Because Norton cant seem to. And I frequently delete internet cookies and files on my browser too keep it from slowing down so that cant be the problem. Anyone know whats wrong?

No, it is not slowing your PC down, You get the "cookie" from a web sites, nearly ALL websites use cookies to store data, such as log in data or shopping cart data, for the most part, cookies are harmless, it will never stop finding them.

Cookies are not slowing your computer down as they come from the webpages that you visit. There are good tracking cookies and bad tracking cookes. The good ones are used to bring up the same webpage you visited faster. The bad ones track what your webpage habits are.

Nortons is a hugh resource hog and their software is slowing down your system.

If you hit "Ctrl"-"Alt"-"Del", your "Task Manager Screen will open and you can see when you opne running processes how much resources Nortons uses.

it does take the cookie,(cookies from wedsites- most have cookies. they more computer slow- like crumbs make dirty) and same thing happened to me too. i have norton 07 too and the tracking cookie comes when you go to certain website. and press "fix" in the tab thats red.. then press apply actions. see anti- virus only controls viruses- you get nope (anti) and

therefore for cookies you should get ad- aware.. its for cookies. heres the free version- http://ad-aware.reviewsit.net/ or http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html click on "download now"

i was in the same place feb. and a friend told me about ad-are. its like best when it comes to slow computers. anti-virus is also important- no worry of viruses. by the way the scan shouldn't last for more than 3 hrs. so at first if it does- stop it restart and start again- fro teh first 10 times always do- full san, then once it knows where ur viruses are- smart scan

hope i helped- i really need points!

your not having much luck with Norton are you? the best thing to do would be to uninstall it, make sure its fully uninstalled as it hides in places that you wouldn't think of looking, remove it from your control panel then go into search type 'Norton' it should bring up everything then search in hidden files and folders delete it all then delete it all from your rubbish bin and reinstall. hope this helps.
