I upgraded the hard drive and memory.

Or should I get a different laptop?
I like to go on the internet, play the sims 2, write in my "Journal" on Microsoft Word, Word Pad, etc. And I like to watch videos, like on You Tube and theCW.com and ABC.com and everything. I also play games like Nancy Drew, Second Life (gossip girl). Is this the right laptop for me?

Ok, well it depends. Definetly get a Core 2 Duo in it. If it is an AMD based, get the AMD Turion X2. Id reccromend a Core 2 Duo T5250 or 7250/7200. Or an AMD Turion X2 TL-60 or higher. If you are getting Windows Vista, which i belive is all HP offers. You need a minimum of 2GB of memory (RAM) to run Vista and your Game/ or misc. applications. If you get less than 2GB, it'll be so slow you wont be able to stand it OR play your game. (Vista=1GB//The Sims or any Application(s)=the other 1GB) IF you need the big harddrive (HDD), that is ok, but look for speed. A 7200 rpm is what i recromend. a 5400 rpm. is normal, but there is usually an upgrade available and is worth about 50 $ for the speed increase. MOST IMPORTANTLY though, for your game The Sims 2 (which I also play and have experience with) if you want to play your game, you need a good graphics card (GPU). Get no less than an Nvidia GeForce 8400M. This card is outstanding and will give you max. settings and no lag or bottlenecking. This Config should fit you perfectly.

Hope I could Help :)

This is a passable laptop.

I would upgrade to the dual core processor.

The software is low end stuff. If you buy this, you may want to look into the option of upgrading to Office, instead of using Works.

There are better machines out there for only a little more money.

It's got all the basic stuff you need and the price seems decent - if you're happy with it, go for it! Compaq's a reputable brand too.

I think it should be sufficient for the things you've mentioned you're going to do with it.

It's ok if you're on a budget. If you're getting windows vista, which that had on it, I'd recommend getting 2GB of memory minimum.
