A sieve, a pot, and warm water.

Put the mixture in the pot and put enough warm water in so the sand moves freely. The warm water will dissolve the sugar but not the sand. The pour it all through a sieve to separate the sand and the liquid.

Then you can boil the water off the sugar.

I could separate it almost instantly. I would simply put a coffee filter in a strainer. Put hot water in the sand and sugar mixture ,and then pour off the water into another container. the hot water would dissolve the sugar and leave the sand behind.

*...Mix the mixture in warm water and stir well to dissolve the sugar thoroughly.
*...Run through a fine filter paper to separate the sand.
(Wash the filtered sand with more, hotter water to ensure all sugar has been dissolved out)
*...Allow the sand to drain and then spread it out on a tray and dry it in a warm oven.
*...Place the sugar solution in another shallow tray and also place it in the oven (set at about 110°C), to vaporise the water out of the solution. The sugar will crystallise out onto its tray.

just add water to the mixture ( add the suitable amount of water to make sure that all of the sugar is diluted) and than stir the mixture gently. sugar will be diluted to the water and the white sand remain. filter the solution and you will get white sand remain trapped inte filter paper, rinse the sand with the water. the liquor is sugar solution, thus you can get the sugar again by evaporate the solution unti all of the water evaporates. you can get the sand to dry off in the oven to make the sand dry again.
