Every single day I see high school juniors, seniors, etc and so forth listing their grades in each subject, and then asking whether their grades are "okay." Usually the grades listed are A's, A-'s, 97's, 95's, you get the deal. And then they write something like "are my grades really bad?"

Clearly, these kids are looking for some sort of approval. But I find it to be highly annoying. If you're passing school with A's, obviously you should have enough sense to know where you stand and if your grades are acceptable. Does this irk anyone else? The kids can't be that clueless...

P.S. Not trying to be hostile, but this has seriously become a pet peeve of mine. For further information, I'm a college junior (with excellent marks that I need not parade).

As an extra note, the only reason I wrote I was a college junior with excellent notes was because I knew if I didn't, I'd be accused of having low marks and thus being jealous of those parading their grades. Of course, I also knew if I did write what I had that someone would also accuse me of parading my marks as well. Lose/Lose situation.

ttpaw in case you were concerned, I'm not losing sleep over it. Cigarette butts strewn all over the place is also a pet peeve, yet no one is claiming that it's because I'm jealous that I never smoked. I seek no recognition.

Jennifer, why yes, I do find it annoying. I love answering legitimate questions. It's great when high school students have questions. I've worked in undergraduate admissions so I'm used to answering questions. But why would high schoolers repeatedly answer questions that they know (or could easily find) the answer to? This goes for all those who ask if they could be accepted to Harvard or Yale university as well, when they know the truth.

INTERESTED: But, why did you feel compelled to post your grades in the first place?

I think it is very annoying. People are going say they are straight A student when there not just to show off.

They are just trying to be above and beyond. First of all its more competeive now to get into great Universities and even if your have great marks it doens't matter. I think its more stupid that you are posting a question like this. It has nothing to do with your business. If you don't want that stuff to annoy you don't read the questions in this category.

If a kid makes good grades, he/she can brag about it all day long, as far as I'm concerned. Compared to the ones who make me listen to their inane cellphone conversations or their so-called "music" booming from their ridiculous car speaker systems, they're a delight.

Why do you let it bother you? Maybe they have found a way to get some type of recognition that you were never able to find. If that is the case, correct your own fault, and not find fault with them.pp

I think they are lying about their grades and they are secretly getting D's and stuff. Anybody with good grades would know and wouldn't have to ask what kind of grade is good and what isn't.

I think those kids have alot of pressure to be the best. Maybe their parents are always pressuring them to be the very best.
