Can anyone explain what DHI is in terms of geophysics?

Direct hydrocarbon indicator...however....a lot of other things (phenomena) can cause DHI's... these include clean water saturated sands or sands that have a residual hydrocarbon saturation....What used to be called DHI's are now called amplitude anomalies.....

They are bright spots that can predict hydrocarbons before a well is drilled.
