Why is it that when a woman is raped, she has to die? It doesn't make any sense! Shouldn't it be the rapist that gets killed? I just don't see why women are treated like that.

The National Geographics has a good article about them. There are many reasons used to justify them besides rape but they all boil down to women be treated like property and communities condoning customs that got way back.

It's just that some cultures still choose to remain backwards, so backwards that they've never seen what the front of them looks like; it's in those cultures that the women are blamed for anything and everything that goes wrong with society. In the ME little boys, as a rule, are raised to be hell raisers; while the little girls are raised to be good/quiet, so if anything happens, she's being bad not him; meaning they're societies scapegoats if you will, the women that is; someone has to be an example/take the fall; it's foul is what it is.
