This question is a bit interesting:

The resolution of a picture on the internet is limited to the resolution of the monitor displaying it.
The record I believe belongs to the IBM T221 but that's a monitor, and chances are you don't have a graphics card that can run the thing at max.

As far as largest number of pixels of any image on the internet? Let me know when you find out!

Depends on how big your monitor is, I seen specs at over 2000x2000 in resolution, So depending on how big your monitor is, weather it is wide screen or dual monitored.
