Or is it simply because they know they can get away with it behind the monitor?

There are some of them who are like that in real life and others who do this because you can't see them or you don't know them in real life. I always say I would really f*ck up some of these people If I knew them in real life. LOL

I believe that it is possible for a person who is rude online to be rude in person. However, that's not always the case. Some people don't really care of the consequenses on here and know that it's just the internet, nothing really bad can happen. In real life, if you're rude to someone, you get bad consequenses, like them becoming enemies with you or not liking you. On here, you can really get away with a lot, and even if you do get caught, you get your account frozen, which isn't a big deal. You can always make a new one.

Definitely more rude online.

For one thing, if the were as rude in real life as they are here then wouldnt you be running into one about every 4 or 5 people?

Also, part of it might be that people on here have a chance to be rude to people that they have never met and never plan to meet. Such as the answers in the Religious section. They can spew information they read online or saw in a cartoon.

Have a bet. I am sure that almost 80% of these on- line rude people are--the most timid people in real life. They try to throughout the undigested thrashing they had to munch through in their real life from their own for obvious reasons.----Hypocrites!

I think the on-line person is the real person, they just aren't brave enough to show themselves in the flesh and so pretend. Personally I'm horrible all the time.

Definately the latter. You can end up saying things you really regret afterwards. I'm a nice guy in real life but this isn't real life..... is it?
