Western Digital or Seagate, can be portable or not, from 120 GB to 750 GB, some even 1 TB. Around $100 to $400, there is one Seagate 320 GB in Tiger Direct for $99.

Depends how much your willing to spend and how much space you want, External harddrives are rather cheap I would check out www.newegg.com as they have the best prices on hardware.
In this case 100-200 GB external hard drive will be plenty of course if cash is no object try to get one of the 500GB ones.

As a present i presume get a western digital as they look nice and hold a large sum of gigabytes! they are nice up to 250 gb for $160 and i have a 160 gb got it for $109 it is a nice HD i would get it and if you drop it is OK!!

It's called an iPod. 80 gig for 249 or 160 gig for 349.
Oh yeah, you can play music on it and view video clips, too.....
Actually, you can buy a 2.5" drive with 120gig for around $100, but not nearly as much fun as an iPod....
