Both occur due to pressure changes,though of different type.Hurricanes are caused due to decrease of air pressure(low pressure) and earthquake is caused due to decrease(or sudden release) of pressure( or stress) between tectonic plates.
Secondly, both cause extensive damages sometimes.Thirdly, both are natural calamities.Finally,both severely affect the sea shores by causing storm surge(due to hurricanes) and tsunami(if earthquakes occur below oceans).

no, warming of the water, and favorable conditions are what hurricanes like best.
earthquakes, well simple... plate techtonics. shifting of the crust.
