used half of the money to reduce taxes and the other half gave it to the largest corporations?

How many people are really going to buy two and three of things they need only one of, to keep volume up, just because they have a little more money?
Are corporations really going to expand just because they have more money on hand when consumptions is down?

First off, why would we give tax revenues to corporations?!? Especially the largest ones? They're doing fine on their own, thank you very much. It's difficult to say what would happen jobs-wise if the government were to cut all social programs. Don't forget, a *lot* of people are directly employed by the organizations that benefit from these programs. It's possible that you could see a net loss in jobs.

How about instead of giving it to the megacorps, lets give it in ultralow interest or no interest small business loans. After that enact strong tarrifs on merchandise manufactured outside the USA. Than initiate penalties on corporations for every job that is exported overseas. Our descent into a service based economy is destroying our economy. At one time we were the leading manufacturer in the world. Manufactring is the backbone of our middle class.

The gov't employees would more than fill the new openings.

Of course many would end up being reassigned to newly created pointless gov't projects just so that our unemployment wouldnt get too high. Bigger gov't means less unemployment--its the principal behind Bush's job creation.

We would lose jobs . FDR originally set up social programs to get people back on there feet , cut it off and unemployment { what little we get from social programs } will decline tremendously .
