You are doing a wonderful job. It is sad when the family can't look after their own or get some help in to help out. I don't know about where you live but there are agencies that will come in and asset the situtation and he may be able to have a homemaker come in a few times a week to look after him. Like make his lunches etc. and help with personal care. If he doesn't eat properly he will get weak and sick. So it's good you do make him some food. Forget the family. What goes around comes around. Love you, sweetie

There are many sad stories like yours out there in these fast times.

People neglect their parents as they grow old, and rarely do we see children helping out their parents as they once did in a simpler time.

In fact, it's the other way around today.

I know, I've had some friends in N.Y.C., and I have relatives living there.

You will be amazed at how many eighty year olds are taking care of their fifty year old kids.

What caused this?

Many factors, like high divorce rate, not enough good paying jobs to go around and high living expenses.

Chances are the children of this man will show up when they want an inheritance.

Maybe.

Call his daughter and explain that her father needs to have someone come in daily to help him out. You can't always be there to help him. Suggest a homehealth aide to come in daily to help him with chores and whatever else at his age he could no longer do. He sound like he has a uncaring family and that is sad.

You should talk to his family. That is not right at all, it's not your responsibility to be taking care of him. What kind of family would do that, I really feel sorry for him. It's awesome that you're doing that for him.

well next time you talk to her say "well i love taking care of him and he means a lot to me but it's pretty tough i mean i have my share of things to get done too...I think he would appreciate his family coming up here and giving him a hand as well..."

and that is so sad!

You have been as good a neighbor as any in the Bible, now it`s time for his family to do their duty. Please get in touch with the elder abuse people, so that he can get proper care by a professional.

Call his kids, and give em h-ll, they should be caring for him, or they should be getting him a caretaker of some sort.
If you call social services, they would put him in a home, so don't do that cuz he would be sad not being in his own home. But get his kids to do their responsibilty!!!!!!!!
