If its an orientation I'm sure you'd be fine with regular clothes. Unless they specifically requested you wear khaki and red then I think it's wide open. A function of the orientation will be to discuss dress code, so you'll learn all about it then. You could always say that you don't own Khaki pants and a red shirt and was wondering if it was a uniform assigned by target...
If it will put your mind at ease then by all means keep khaki pants and a red shirt in your car.

Generally for orientation you don't "work" in the store. You basically watch videos and go through all the basics with the HR person and/or manager and take a tour around the store. I've seen some people wear red and khaki at orientation but training doesn't officially start until after your orientation (which is about 4 hours long).

It is your first day of work. You are going to get paid for that day so you have to wear your khaki pants and your red shirt. You are going to be learning and doing all the work. Wear the uniform, trust me I work there.

Just wear regular clothes for orientation. They should give you a shirt and then tell you to wear khakis once you start actual work.
