I totally understand! I am 268 and 19 weeks. It's very hard, because I don't want to gain any weight at all. I try to eat smaller amounts, but then I get so tired and sick. I try not to eat too much, but its just so hard mentally. I am becoming obsessed with food - not eating it, am I eating too much - everything. My doctor isn't concerned about my weight gain, but I sure am! (I've gained 4 pounds in the last 9 weeks.)
It's stressful.

Well I am 26 weeks and I started out over weight. I started 180 lbs and 5'4". I actually lost weight the first few months so now I'm right on track with how much an overweight person should gain. ( When you are overweight you aren't supposed to gain as much as normal. You should only gain 15 to 20 lbs) Maybe it's not the amount of food you are eating but the kind? Also if you don't work out you should really start. It doesn't have to be hours at the gym even just walking a half hour a day will do you good. Not just to keep you from gaining weight but so it won't be difficult at the end of your pregnancy. I am really worried about gaining weight so I know how you feel. As long as you eat right and work out then you are doing everything you can do and I would try to not overly worry about it. You can always go on a diet when you have the baby. Congrats!!!

I was 216 pounds when I got pregnant with my 1st (I'm only 5'3"). My doctor told me to watch what I ate because being overweight could lead to potential risks like gestational diabetes and preeclampsia (spelling?). I listened to her and cut out sodas (only 1-2 shirley tamples a week, no caffeine of course), I cut back on all the bad foods, etc. I drank a lot more water and I ended up losing 16 pounds in the 1st half of my pregnancy. I only gained back the 16 pounds the last half which was pretty much all baby so I never weighed more than my initial weight. 2 weeks after I gave birth I weighed 186 pounds. Too bad I didn't keep it off. When we're overweight, we don't have to gain weight. I'm almost 20 weeks with #2 and I've lost 8 pounds so far this pregnancy. I now weigh 206. My stomach is bigger and the baby is measuring right on schedule like normal. Opt for healthy snacks and eating 2 cookies for dessert versus the usual 4 makes a huge difference. I still eat the foods I like but in moderation.

I was/am a proud plus size woman. I gained about 30 pounds when I was pregnant. I gained on my belly and lost weight everywhere else. My doctor even told me that some heavier women end up slimmer after pregnancy. I ate lots and lots of fruits and veggies. I didn't deny myself if I wanted something that wasn't really good for me once in awhile. I had allot of morning sickness so I lost weight from that too. That 30 I gained was all baby and fluid. As soon as I was out of the hospital I was out taking walks with my son. The extra weight melted right off. Don't worry about gaining weight do what you need to do for your baby. You'll be fine. Good luck and congratulations.

I was 200 when I had my 1st one and gained 27 pds. I also got toximia and had the baby 6 weeks early. He was 2 pds. 7 oz. It had nothing to do with my weight it is just something that happens sometimes. My baby was smaller than it should have been at 34 weeks. My dr. did get onto me about my weight. He said when I delivered it was going to be like running a marathon, you don't gain 50 pds to do that. Hurt my feelings but he had a point. Try to walk everyday and don't eat the sweets. Eat good foods.

I had pre-eclampsia with my first baby and had to be on bed rest for 4 months. I never did gain weight with her. The day before I delivered her I was down 15 pounds.
But, with the second one I gained about 30 pounds and struggled to get any of that off. She weighed over 9 pounds and they worried about gestational diabetes but, I've had reactive hypoglycemia since I was a child and my sugar was low to normal throughout both pregnancies.

You only need to eat an additional 300 calories a day to get enough nutrition to support you and your growing baby. Also start walking. It is the best exercise you can do while you are pregnant and afterward. Also do not consume a lot of soda pop. Drink plenty of water. Also make sure that as you get later in your pregnancy, be careful of walking as it can stimulate you in labor ( late in the third trimester).
EIther way moderation and some form of exercise is the key. No matter what you do, you should do in moderation. That includes those favorite prego cravings as well. Mine was ice cream but I would try and eat sherbert instead but I treated myself every now and then. :-)
Good luck.

I am a plus size and with my first child I gained 12 lbs. Second, 30 lbs. And third, 18 lbs. But I lost it all within two to three weeks after they were born.

I was plus size when i started this pregnancy. I was 203. I am now almost 37 weeks, and up to 40lbs. My doctor has not said anything about it, but i'm pretty concerned about it. i was trying so hard to keep it to around 20-25, but that flew out the window fast. I don't pay attention anymore. If my doctor is concerned then she'll tell me. I've come to terms with it, but i dread the long battle to lose it.
