Investors get cash payments instead of fractional stocks

some stocks allow fractions like bp so you would have 1 1/2 shares otherwise you will get a check for 1/2 share!!!

For every 2 shares owned, you now get 3. In other words, if you have 100 shares at $60 per share, you will now own 150 shares at $40 per share. Nothing has changed.

Theoretically you would then own 1.5 shares, but they will pay you cash for the fractional 1/2 share.

It depends. Most companies *will* allow fractional shares. In other words, you could end up with 1.5 shares. If they don't, however, you will still have one share, and be paid the cash equivalent of 0.5 shares.

most companies pay the owner for the value of the odd half share.
