Just tell the ones you trust, for now.

It started as a joke. We were at her (a friend of mine's) house and screwing around with my ex-bf over the phone. She told him that she was bi to see what his reaction would be (a year later she came out as bi), and blah, blah, blah. So after we hung up with him, we got on AIM and started AIMing our friends. Somehow I "came out" to another friend (it was a semi-joke, since I thought I was bi but hadn't officially come out to anyone yet), and she was cool with it (not knowing that it was meant to be a joke).

So when I truly came out, everyone (esp. my ex) was pretty shocked (I don't look gay or have any stereotypical traits of lesbians. Note "stereotypical"), but they all took it well (except my ex, but he's cool with it now), so that turned out well.

Uuuuuhm, yeah, i'm 18 and nobody knows except for this one girl who is bi, too. And she said it's okay. And she believes everyone is, to some degree, bi. I believe that, too. Partly because of Alfred Kinsey's scientific work on sexuality.

I called one on the phone... talked for a bit, and said "The real reason why I'm calling you is to tell you I'm gay." It went okay. Others were over the internet, but not many. Some just saw it on my myspace.

You just told everyone on the Internet!!! Now, just do that in real life with people you know. And when you do, if they stop being your friend, they were never your friend to start with.

Why do you even need to tell anyone? Does it define you? I hope not. You are more than who you are attracted to. The only time you would need to disclose this is if you are looking for someone in the same boat.
