Joe Biden is complaining that his foes keep saying he'd be a great secretary of state.

Nothing wrong with that job, he says, but he's running for president. And if he'd be better at foreign policy than his rivals, well, why in the world shouldn't he be president instead of them?

Biden, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is widely expected to be on the short list for secretary of state if one of his Democratic rivals wins the White House. Maybe if a Republican wins, too.

But he said Thursday, speaking at a forum on Iraq: "Under no administration will I accept the job of secretary of state."

A voter had asked the Delaware senator what he would do to restore U.S. credibility in the world.

"That's the president's job," he said. "I know a lot of my opponents out there say I'd be a great secretary of state. Seriously, every one of them. Do you watch any of the debates? 'Joe's right, Joe's right, Joe's right.'"

"I ask you a rhetorical question: Are you prepared to vote for anyone — at this moment in our history — as president who is not capable of being secretary of state? Who among my opponents would you consider appointing secretary of state? Seriously. Think about it."

He certainly is smart, has good foreign policy credentials, and is well spoken. It would be a nice change for the country if he was president.

I watched the debate between Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan again a couple of days ago. The truth is the Vice President handled himself better than anyone could have on the national stage. I thought he artfully projected the administration’s broader foreign policy stance and single-handedly (yeah single-handedly) squashed an all-out assault on the part of the Romney ticket to discredit the administration’s push back against Al Qaeda and engineering a major victory in Libya.

When America reexamines Biden’s record among a limited Democratic field and weigh what some consider to be his biggest flaw, speaking his mind and being frank with us, then I think they’ll give him second look. I applaud Biden’s response to folks popping the question on his decision to run. How can there be any good reasons to not run. He’s been in politics his entire life. He’s built a working class brand. During the 2012 campaign it felt reassuring when he put it bluntly, "I've got a little bumper sticker for you: Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive." -

I'm a big fan of Senator Biden.. he is a far better candidate then the current frontrunners..

My only issue with him is his plan for partitioning Iraq.. His plan involves separating the three groups, while this sounds good on paper, the results will only worsen the situation. There are people who are intermarried, that have homes and jobs in certain regions.. what are they going to do just kick them out? Not to mention the fighting will just continue across border lines like it has in India and Pakistan.. This has already been attempted before and failed..

I LOVE Biden, but I don't know if he's electable. If people actually did vote for the most qualified candidate, he'd be a shoe-in. Unfortunately, people do not vote that way.

Sad, but true.

In many ways, Biden would make an excellent President. Unfortunately, in many other ways, he'd make a damn fool president.
